The project
A working kitchen, dining banquette and living space brought into one room — in soft blue, white oak and brass.
This project is a full open concept kitchen renovation in Hudson, Québec, opened up to take in the dining and living areas as a single room. The brief was a kitchen that could handle a busy family and still feel calm at the end of the day.
The layout came first. A custom kitchen island in white oak anchors the room, seating four without crowding the walkway to the back doors, and the run along the window keeps sink, range and prep within a few steps of each other. A built-in kitchen banquette replaced a separate dining room, so meals happen where the cooking does.
Custom kitchen cabinets run throughout — blue shaker doors in a soft slate tone, glass-fronted uppers either side of the hood, and open shelving flanking the banquette. White oak returns on the island, the coffee station and the cane-fronted desk nook, warming the blue. Quartz counters with soft veining, full-height white subway tile, brass hardware and fittings, and retro-style appliances in cream and brass finish the room.

Planning — Before demolition begins, we set a realistic schedule, a materials list and a detailed budget. The client knows what will be done each week, who will be on site, and which decisions need to be made ahead of time so that nothing stalls the work.
Execution — The work is carried out by a small, consistent crew. Cabinetry and millwork are built to measure, installed and then adjusted on site, so the doors, drawers and reveals line up the way they should.
Finishing — The last stage is the slowest one. Paint, lighting, sealant, hardware adjustments and a full clean-up: this is the difference between a kitchen that is properly delivered and one that is merely finished.
